Liquitex spray paint is a fine art tool made with highly lightfast artist-quality pigments. unlike regular sprays, it uses low-odour professional paint made with water-based technology and low solvents.

It's your perfect studio companion. no fumes. an easy-clean, water-based formulation. fine dispersion, intense colour and uv permanence.

Low-odour
We’ve made our spray paint a lot more pleasant and safe to use when working both outside and in. Unlike solvent-heavy sprays, this solvent-light formula gives far less fumes.

Water-based
Water-soluble when wet, yet permanent and water-resistant when dry. You get the best of both worlds. Once sprayed, all the water in the paint evaporates quickly, leaving a flexible acrylic film of colour behind. The colour is permanent and doesn’t move - which means you can over-paint without bleeding and achieve multi-layered surface effects.

Using water-based technology means you can take advantage of a slightly longer open time than you get with regular sprays. Try using the extra time to work the paint in different ways. Spray colour into the cap and apply with a brush. Blend your colour layers, apply wet-in-wet and get new effects.

Care
Fine art tools need looking after and our spray paint is no exception. It’s a pigmented paint and delivery system in one, so you need to treat it with as much care as you would your brushes and tools. here’s a few tips:

- always start with a clean cap – paint doesn’t flow well through a dirty nozzle. if it’s dirty, replace it with a fresh one
- shake the can for a minute before you start to keep the pigment/binder evenly mixed
- keep it upright as you spray
- apply in short, frequent bursts
- after use, spray upside down until nothing comes out, then remove the cap and give it a quick clean (before paint dries) with soap and water or cap cleaner
- keep the cap cover on when not in use, to stop paint from drying out
- we've re-engineered our nozzle design to make it easier to avoid blockages and have a range of accessories to help you – from a bespoke - - cap cleaner to replacement caps in a choice of sizes.

Versatility
Low solvents means it’s safe for more substrates and techniques. So you can use spray paint where and how you like, on a wider range of materials, including styrofoam. Use it to paint, to create special effects, to intermix with other paints and media. To lay down an even coat of colour over vast areas and uneven surfaces. Each 12oz can covers 21sqft/2sqm and the spray nozzle ensures colour gets into every nook. Use it on stretched canvas, card, board, glass, wood, masonry, brick, ceramics and styrofoam.

Pre-mixed system
Most artists use our spray paint directly on their surfaces, without mixing. So to help you get consistent tints and shades, we’ve pre-mixed some colours by adding black and white pigments to create a complete tonal range. If the colour name includes a number, you know it’s had a monochrome pigment added - here’s a guide:

- cobalt blue hue - our regular liquitex cobalt blue hue colour
- cobalt blue hues 1–4 - these have had black pigment added to cobalt blue, to create a deeper shade
- cobalt blue hues 5–8 - these have had white pigment added to cobalt blue, to achieve a paler tint

Archival
You can rely on the highest quality colour-intense artist pigments when you use spray paint. Our pigments are processed using the latest basket bead-mill technology, where tiny reinforced ceramic beads give fine dispersion, great colour development, strength and brightness. You get true colour purity and archival stability in a spray.

Whether it's on a client’s wall, or in a gallery, your work needs to stay as you intended. As with all liquitex products, the pigments in spray paint have passed extensive tests for lightfastness. Each pigment is rated according to the American Society for testing & materials (astm), and we only use pigments rated astm i or ii*. This means your work will have the greatest archival permanence possible – at least 50 years+ in gallery conditions – with no colour shifting or fading, to stay vibrant and true.
